Principal’s Report:
- Thank you for the turn out, and to the Folley Family for
helping with the pizza tonight
- This is the governing body for the school and the way we
make decisions in this school
- This is the best school Darren has ever taught at!
- New staff in the building: Lara Culig (kindergarten AM),
Kerry White (Grade 1/2 mat leave for Ainsley Ross), Rob Paris (Grade 3/4),
Tiffany Dahl (Grade 3/4), Sara Corrigall (Fine Arts and Grade 5/6)
- We are a new Iris school this year (one of 25 schools in
the board). Iris is an online environment that focuses on student strengths and
assets. We will be using Iris for IPPs, and student learning plans online.
- Off-campus fee of $100 proposal was approved last year and
has been successful so far.
- Commitment Board: staff and parent promises posted in the
hallway. All parents are encouraged to add their thoughts to the board.

Teachers used iPads over the summer so we are looking
forward to start using them in our classrooms
September 24-28:
– All forms swimming gr 3-6 (due Wednesday)
- Aussie X – athletic residency (athletics was a priority of
the school by parents – another initiative to support this request) Net Ball
and Footy Ball
- Photo day on Friday
- BLAST letters for Health Committee, Green Team and
Newsroom due Thursday
- BLAST elections in classrooms this week
October 1-5:
- Grades 3-6 swimming
- BLAST meetings begin Tuesday Oct 2 at lunch
- OZ Electives begin on Friday Oct 5
October 8-12:
Oct 8 – Thanksgiving (no school)
Oct 10 – Power of One Anti-Bullying Presentation at 9:00am –

Nancy Stein:
BLAST:
- positions will be divided by term this year to give more
opportunity for all students
- Health Committee has opened to grade 1/2 as well
- elected positions allow for more students to take part in
these leadership roles
- Library has been opened to 2 students per class
- actively engaging all students throughout the year
- will be meeting every week instead of every other week
OZ Musical:
- over 70 students auditions
- 2 students are playing each role, students will perform 2
shows each
- all students will be involved in a class number
- electives will be built around musical
- Grade 1/2 will be working on their piece during electives
time
- Grade 3-6 students will choose their elective based on OZ
roles
- Grant: Decidedly Jazz will be artist in residence to help
with choreographing OZ
- We need a pit band, costumes, make-up etc help from
parents
- Dates for the show: Dec 10 (Dress) Dec 11 AM and evening
Dec 12 afternoon Dec 13 evening

Goett, Sandy Pearse, and teachers and all who helped with Grade 6 Celebration
New Business –
Shannon Keetch
- Grassroots Inspired Grants: 27 grants of $1200
- Proposal: a mural on the white wall by the playground
- Needs approval from Parent Council to begin the process
- Will need a committee: Mural Project Coordinator
- If unsuccessful in getting any grants, will approach
committee
- Darren: we are a fine arts school and it would look great,
must use right materials, believes our school would be in support of it
- Rebekah puts forth a motion to investigate
